Anxiety, Stress & PTSD
Anxious Annie, they called her.
Once upon a time, she had a lucrative job, good education, stable family, and close friends.
But there was a problem.
The more she worked for the fulfillment of someone else’s dreams, making money that couldn’t make her happy, the more anxious she became.
She looked back and realized that, somewhere along the way, she forgot who she was.
She stammered in her speech, had the jitters, frequently interrupted others, couldn’t keep up with corporate deadlines, worried constantly, and started having panic attacks on her drive to work.
She was arguing more with her spouse and felt she couldn’t be there for her children the way she always imagined.
Eventually Annie took some time off to rest, but the anxiety persisted.
She felt more and more agitated and felt like her skin was crawling.
After Annie went back to work she decided to quit her job before they fired her. She felt worthless as a wife, mother, colleague and friend.
Then, Annie came to therapy!
In the first 3 weeks, she learned somatic processing and yoga psychotherapeutic techniques that helped Annie achieve a state of relaxation she hadn’t felt “for as long as (she) can remember.” She was enjoying a breath-work practice that was designed to activate the part of her nervous system responsible for relaxation.
By week 6, she was interacting with others in the community again. Annie and I did significant work to help her reconnect with her values and who she truly feels herself to be… An expressive, confident, engaging woman. In therapy, she learned how to root out the thoughts that do not serve her purpose, and become self-empowered.
By week 12, she felt confident going back to work, at a new job – one that she loved. She interviewed and landed a job at a design studio. Annie was actively practicing a reprogramming technique designed to release old anxious habits and thoughts, and replace them with thoughts and actions that are in service of her goals and values in life.
6 Months later, Annie was making less money than she had in the past, but she was feeling fulfilled, peaceful and happy. She was courageously pursuing a career in fashion, something she had always dreamt of since being a little girl.
And, most extraordinarily, she felt like a good mom again – present with her kids.
Maybe Annie’s story scares you, a little bit.
She had courage! The courage to say yes to her life, her family, and her dreams.
Annie didn’t know how to ‘deal’ with the anxiety she felt every day. Courage isn’t about knowing how; it’s about being willing.
Does Annie’s story inspire you? Know that if she could, YOU CAN, TOO!
I’d feel honored to help you find your way to the peace and ease you desire.

High levels of stress are contributing to massive health challenges in America. We see it through heart disease, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, adrenal fatigue, gastrointestinal issues, and premature aging.
Stress can also show itself through obesity, asthma, diabetes, chronic headaches, muscle cramps, declined job performance, and loss of sex drive.
The effects of stress can even be seen in the way we connect with our friends and families.
Have you ever had a stressful day then gotten snippy with a loved one that wasn’t part of the stress at all?

Trauma, no matter how big or small, gets your fight, flight, or freeze response going.
The impact can be scary and absolutely devastating.
The very part of our nervous system that is designed to keep us safe can become over-active and debilitating following traumatic events.
Many people struggling with post-traumatic stress feel horrified, angry, broken, and embarrassed.
You are not broken!
You may feel stuck and out of control.
It’s like someone installed a computer program in your body that you never wanted there. The program makes you remember things you don’t want to, get panicky out of the blue, feel on edge all the time, and react to people and situations in ways you don’t like.
There is hope!
You can heal from the wounds of your past.
Recent studies of trauma-informed yogic psychotherapy suggest that 83% of people with diagnosable PTSD no longer meet the criteria for PTSD at the completion of treatment. This rate is comparable to other trauma techniques like exposure therapy and EMDR.
Yoga psychotherapy can also feel like a less invasive approach that provides in-the-moment techniques for regulating symptoms of PTSD.
We’re ready to help you turn post-traumatic stress into PAST traumatic stress.
Reclaim your body, heart, and mind!
